A Good Time Had By All

The SunnySide Band performing at the Pippin Hill Winery

The SunnySide Band performed at the beautiful Pippin Hill Farm and Winery today to a “standing room only” crowd, and that’s a big place to stand in.  The Band played their usual knee-slappin’ – toe-tappin’ old-time tunes, as well as a number of classic country tunes, and the folks enjoyed both the music and the wine.  A big THANK YOU to friends who showed up today to support The Band and to new friends who stopped by to say Howdy!

The SunnySide Band would like to encourage you to visit their Gigs page to see where they will be performing next and then consider coming out and joining them at their next venue.  If you haven’t heard SunnySide, just visit their Music page and listen to a few of their favorite selections.

    Pickin’ at Skyland Resort

The SunnySide Band performing at Skyland

2011 has been a busy and fun-filled year for The SunnySide Band, and they can’t believe it is coming to a close.  The Band has done well with CD sales they’re happy to say, they have recooped their expences!  Some of the venues where SunnySide performed during the year were The Peaks of Otter in Bedford, Sherando Lakes, The Old Settlers Museum at Humpback Rocks on The Blue Ridge Parkway, Pippin Hill Winery, and they auditioned at Big Meadows Lodge and Skyland Resort on The Skyline Drive.  The audition was a huge success, and they found a perfect outlet for their old-time tunes and classic country music at The Lodge and The Resort for the summer and fall.

The Band is gearing up for another exciting year in 2012, and they hope it will include sharing their music with you.  The SunnySide Band would like to invite you to visit their Book Us page and leave your information.  They would also like to invite you to visit their Home page and their Music page and listen to a few of their favorite selections.  Happy New Year!

    Where Did the Summer Go?

    SunnySide Band

As the trees along the Blue Ridge Mountains put on their coat of many colors, The SunnySide Band is winding up a wonderful summer of pickin’ and grinnin’ at Big Meadows Lodge on The Skyline Drive.  The Band played to a packed house of smilin’, toe-tappin’ folks from all over the United States.  A couple of the folks were fans from two years ago who saw their poster in the lobby and came on down to listen.  CD sales went well at this last show.  What a way to end the year!  The Band will spend the next few months regrouping and learning new songs for next year.

The SunnySide Band would encourage you to visit their Home page and Music page to listen to some of their favorite selections and also visit their Gigs page to see where they will be performing next.  They may not be performing at Big Meadows or Skyland Resort, but they will surely be sharing their music at some exciting venue.  The Band would like to invite you to consider having them play for your next big event, just visit their Book Us page and leave your information.

A Beautiful Clear and Chilly Night!

    SunnySide Band

The Stone Soup is another favorite venue for The SunnySide Band.  The Band has made lots of friends in Waynesboro, and the folks there really seem to enjoy the old time tunes and the classic country tunes more each time.  The Afton Amblers joined SunnySide for a rousing set of old time string band tunes that brought the audience to their feet.  The Afton Amblers includes Emily Hancock on fiddle, Dinah Ansley on Clawhammer Banjo and Jim Plitt on Clawhammer Banjo–what a fun time we all had.

The SunnySide Band would like to invite you to visit their Home page and their Music page to listen to some of their favorite old time and classic country tunes, and then they would encourage you to visit their Gigs page to see where they will be performing next.  If you would like to have SunnySide play for your next event, just visit their Book Us page and leave your information.

    In the Tap Room

    Are You From Dixie

Skyland Resort is a wonderful place to play.  Last night was our first time to actually perform there from 9:00pm to 10:30pm.  We auditioned there on June 25, but that was just a half hour.  We arrived at Skyland early and had dinner and just relaxed.  The Tap Room was empty, and we were wondering if anybody was coming to listen to us.  At 8:45pm the folks began to filter in and before we knew it, the place was full.  SunnySide played old-time tunes and classic country tunes and even a couple of not-so-old tunes.  The audience was smiling, swaying and tapping toes and fingers — that was “music to our ears.”  We’re looking forward to our return dates — August 19 and 27.  Michael, we missed you!

The SunnySide Band invites you to visit their Home page and their Music page and give them a listen.  The Band would also encourage you to visit their Gigs page to see where they will be performing next, and if you would like for SunnySide to perform for you, just visit their Book Us page and leave your information.  The Band will be in touch!

    Sherando Lake

    Near Waynesboro

    Jim Lilly

While Jim Lilly is recuperating from his bout with Shingles, SunnySide went scouting out new places to play their old time tunes.  Sherando Lake is in the George Washington National Forest about 4 miles out of Waynesboro and offers swimming, picnicking and a beautiful campground.  They have a wonderful Ampitheater that would be the perfect place for The SunnySide Band to shake a leg and tap a toe, and the activity director was most encouraging for the month of July.

While you’re waiting for this new venue, The SunnySide Band would encourage you to visit their Music page and listen to their old time and classic country tunes and to visit their Feedback page and leave them a comment or two.  The Band suggests that you continue to visit their Gigs page to see where they will be performing next and to make sure they will be performing since Jim is “under the weather.”  The Band knows that Jim will be back on his feet soon, and they hope you will consider having them play for your next big event — just visit their Book Us page and leave your information.
